League position: 7th In their final home game of 2016-17, Everton had taken 43 points at Goodison Park in this Premier League season; their highest total in the top division since 1989-90 (45). The Toffees avoided completing a run of four consecutive games without scoring in the Premier League for the first time since April 2006. The average league attendance at Goodison Park in this season was 39,310; the highest since 1977-78 in League Division One (39,513). Everton manager Ronald Koeman: "I am really proud of the players' record at home this season with 13 wins in the 19 games. I am really happy. I think that we have had a really good season, finishing behind the big six in the Premier League. We need to do better away from home, but that is for next season."

Comments:

League position: 15th Watford had now lost six consecutive away league games without scoring for the first time since May 1952 in Division Three (South). They had now gone ten hours and 17 minutes without scoring a goal in an away game in the Premier League. This was the Hornets' 400th game in the top division (won 127, lost 180). Watford manager Walter Mazzarri said: "I congratulated all the players on their effort in the dressing room. We did not deserve to lose. We deserved a draw at least. I am very happy with the performance because my players gave everything."
