Comments:

League position: 7th Romelu Lukaku had now joined Duncan Ferguson as Everton's joint-highest goalscorer in the Premier League (60 goals each). Everton were now unbeaten in the first seven Premier League games of a year for the first time since 2008 when they were unbeaten for the first nine under current Sunderland manager David Moyes. Leighton Baines became the fourth player to make 300 appearances for the Toffees in the Premier League after Tim Howard (354), Leon Osman (352) and David Unsworth (302).

Comments:

League position: 20th Sunderland had now won only one of their last nine Premier League games (lost five). The Black Cats failed in their attempt to win consecutive away games in the Premier League for the first time since May 2014. They had now yet to name an unchanged starting line-up in any of their 26 Premier League games so far in 2016-17.
