With his seventh goal, Romulu Lukaku became Everton's all-time record goalscorer in European competition. He surpassed the record held by Fred Pickering who scored his six goals in the 1964-65 Fairs Cup campaign. Everton had now won 12 games in the 2014-15 season, six of them were in the UEFA Europa League. They had now won five of their last six Europa League games at Goodison Park.
