Comments:

League position: 16th Everton had now trailed for 308 playing minutes during their Premier League games so far in this season. Only bottom-of-the-table Crystal Palace had trailed for longer (435 minutes). The Toffees had now lost their last five Premier League games played on a Sunday with an aggregate score of 1-13. They had now completed a run of 16 home league games without a draw for the first time since 1962. Everton manager Ronald Koeman said: "If there is no commitment and no aggression then that is maybe a reason to think about my future but I thank the players for their commitment today. I have experience and I know if you win that your life on a daily basis is different. If you lose of course it is not nice. Now we have two weeks for an international break after a defeat like today. But that is life and you have to accept it. We will continue and I will try to do the best for my job. All the stuff and the other questions are not in my hands.”

League position: 6th Burnley now remained unbeaten after the first four away games of a top division season for the first time since 1966. The Clarets had now taken eight points from their first four away games in this season to surpass their total of seven points from their 19 away games in the Premier League in 2016-17. With 12 points from seven games, this became Burnley's best start to a Premier League season. Burnley manager Sean Dyche said: "We have flexibility in the side and we want to play when we can, but we have to fight, work hard and stay resolute for everything we get. There was a good mixture today, a fantastic goal, I don't know how many passes it was but it was a lot, culminating in a long ball, not that you can put it in that category from Robbie Brady as it's an absolutely fantastic bit of vision, and then mixing it up with some real earthy, nitty-gritty defending. Good shape, good energy and a will and desire to see the game through. I think that mixture is important."
