The Toffees remained as one of only three teams with an unbeaten home record so far in this Premier League season along with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. They had now recovered 11 points from losing positions so far in this Premier League; more than any other team. Seamus Coleman had now scored in two of his last three Premier League appearances at Goodison Park. Ashley Williams scored his first Premier League goal for Everton in his 15th appearance. His last goal prior to this was also a winner, for Swansea City at Arsenal on 2 March 2016. Phil Jagielka was shown a second yellow card and sent off in the third minute of added time in the second half.
