Comments:

League position: 16th Crystal Palace had now kept three consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League for the first time since April 2014. Palace won this game despite none of their players recording a shot on target. They had now failed to score in the first-half of 21 of their games so far in this Premier League season; only bottom club Sunderland (22) had failed to score in more. Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce said: "We are now starting to implement our ideas and seeing the benefit. We are looking very solid. No doubt the biggest problem was the amount of goals we were conceding and now we are not conceding those goals."

League position: 14th Watford had now won one of their last ten away games in the Premier League (lost seven). Troy Deeney became the first Hornet to score two own goals in the Premier League (also versus Manchester United on 21 November 2015). The Hornets had now kept only one clean sheet in the Premier League since 29 October 2016. Watford manager Walter Mazzarri said: "We are not happy. There was a foul before the goal and it was an own goal. We didn't deserve to lose."
