Comments:

This was the first time that Crystal Palace had scored in their last five opening home league games of a season (all Premier League). The Eagles failed to score in the first-half of 29 of their 38 games in the Premier League in 2019-20; more than any other team in the division. Wilfried Zaha's goal was his 50th in league football. Wifried Zaha scored after 83 minutes but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review due to an offside decision.

Comments:

Southampton failed in their attempt to win three consecutive games in the Premier League for the first time since May 2016. Of the teams that had played in the Premier League for at least ten seasons, having won two of their 22 games, the Saints now had the worst opening game win percentage in the division (9.09%). They failed to score for the first time in their last eight games in the Premier League. Kyle Walker-Peters was initially shown a red card after 51 minutes but was downgraded to a yellow card following a VAR review.
