Comments:

Champions Chelsea remained unbeaten in 13 opening day matches at Stamford Bridge since losing to Blackburn Rovers in 1993 (won ten and drawn three). They had not suffered a first game defeat since losing at Coventry City in 1998. Chelsea maintained the record of the defending Premier League champions not losing their opening game (won 20 and drawn four). Oscar had now scored three goals in his last two appearances against Swansea City. Thibaut Courtois is now the third Chelsea keeper to be sent off in the Premier League. His red card was Chelsea's 70th in the competition's history.

Comments:

Swansea City scored two away goals in the Premier League at Chelsea, the first team to do so since they did so in September 2014. The Swans had only received two Premier League penalties in 2014-15. Prior to this match, Swansea City had lost all four Premier League visits to Stamford Bridge. Jack Cork was booked in the second minute of added time in the first half. Ashley Williams was booked in the third minute of added time in the second half.
