All five of Chelsea's defeats in all competitions so far in this season havd come in games played in London. Ruben Loftus-Cheek replaced Cesc Fàbregas in the seventh minute of added time in the second-half. Chelsea manager Antonio Conte said: "When you concede goals in that way you must understand the situation and improve on these mistakes. In every game in England, anything can happen. The league is so strong. We faced a team today with strong players."

Comments:

League position: 16th Crystal Palace had now won four consecutive Premier League games for the first time since April 2015 although they failed in their attempt to win four consecutive Premier League games with conceding a goal for the first time. Palace boss Sam Allardyce became the first manager to win a Premier League game against Chelsea with four different clubs. Christian Benteke had now scored in his last three Premier League appearances at Stamford Bridge, each with a different club (Aston Villa, Liverpool and Crystal Palace). Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce said: "It's a sweet three points, to come to the champions, or who I think are going to be champions, and win. This is what the Premier League is about. There can be a shock anywhere. It will make people sit up and say wow."
