Comments:

League position: 3rd Chelsea failed to score in a competitive home game under manager Antonio Conte for the first time (27 games). This was the first goalless draw in a Premier League game at Stamford Bridge since the visit of Norwich City on 4 May 2014. Chelsea had now been shown as many red cards (three) in their last five Premier League games as they had in the previous 73. Chelsea manager Antonio Conte said: [On the David Luiz red card] "You know very well that I don't like to comment on refereeing decisions. It is in the past. Now the only thing I can say is it is very important to see what happened before the David Luiz tackle. For sure, that was a foul. For sure. But, I repeat, the referee took this decision. If he stopped the play before, it wouldn't matter."

League position: 12th Arsenal had now failed to score in three consecutive away games in the Premier League for the first time since 1994-95, so for the first time under manager Arsène Wenger. The Gunners avoided losing their first three away games of a league season for the first time since 1954-55. Their most recent Premier League win at the home of one of their top six rivals from last season remained as a 2-0 success at Manchester City in January 2015. Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger: "I felt that was a game with intensity, with two teams going for it, battles all over the pitch, and we responded well. I like when the team shows that kind of response. I feel it's a deserved point. With a bit more freedom we could have won this game with one or two goals' difference. But it was important we didn't lose. You could see that in the last 20 minutes."
