Comments:

League position: 14th Brentford had now lost seven of their last 11 games in the Premier League (won two). The Bees had now lost more games so far in this season in the Premier League (eight) than they did in the entire previous season in the League Championship (seven). When it was their last game of a year, this was the first time they had lost their final home game of a year since 2005 against Colchester United in League One. Brentford named seven of a possible nine substitutes.

Comments:

League position: 1st Manchester City scored 113 goals in the Premier League in 2021; the most in a year in the top division since 1960 in League Division One by Tottenham Hotspur (114) and Wolverhampton Wanderers (113). City failed in their attempt to equal the club record of scoring at least four goals in four consecutive games in the top division, set in September 1905 in League Division One. This feat had now only been achieved in the Premier League by Manchester United in April 2000. They won 36 of their 44 games in the Premier League in 2021; the previous all-time record in a year in the top division was 33 by Liverpool in 1982 in League Division One. Manchester City named eight of a possible nine substitutes. Aymeric Laporte scored after 87 minutes but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review due to an offside decision.
