It was also the first time in the Champions League that eight players had scored in a single game. It was the first game in any senior UEFA club competition with 12 goals or more since Ajax defeated Luxembourg's Red Boys Differdange 14-0 in the UEFA Cup on 3 October 1984. The only other game in the history of the European Cup / Champions League to have seen more goals was Feyenoord 12-2 win against KR Reykjavik on 17 September 1969.
