Blackburn Rovers remained without a win against Liverpool in the FA Cup at Ewood Park since 1 March 1958. They had won only one of their last five home games in the League Championship. Rovers had now won one of last 12 meetings with Liverpool. They had now been knocked out of FA Cup in five of last six seasons by Premier League teams.
