Bertrand Traoré became the 25th player to score against the Blues in the Premier League who had also played for them in the division; more players than any other club along with Tottenham Hotspur. They became the first team since Everton in 1910-11 to finish in the top four of the top division without a player scoring ten or more goals. César Azpilicueta scored after 60 minutes but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review due to an offside decision. César Azpilicueta was sent-off after 89 minutes for violent conduct. However, the subsequent claim for wrongful dismissal was upheld and the red card withdrawn.
