Comments:

League position: 7th Alexandre Lacazette became the first player to score in his first three home league games for Arsenal since Brian Marwood in September 1988 in League Division One. Alexandre Lacazette scored the Gunners' 100th penalty in the Premier League. Only Liverpool (112) and Chelsea (107) had scored more. They had now won ten consecutive home games in all competitions for the first time since 2009 (12 games). Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger said: “He’s [Alexandre Lacazette] not only a goalscorer, his link up play is good. He fights as well, he’s not fazed by the physical challenges that West Brom gave us and overall he looks to adapt quickly and very well. I took him off because he was tired. He had an opportunity to score a hat-trick but I gave him the penalty as well. What you want is to win the game and not to take any gambles because if they come back to 2-1 it can be nervy."

League position: 12th Gareth Barry made his 633rd appearance in the Premier League in this game to set a new competition record (previously held by Ryan Giggs). There are now 16 players in total to have been born and made a Premier League appearance since Gareth Barry made his debut on 2 May 1998. Baggies manager Tony Pulis became the eighth manager to take charge of 100 or more games for two different Premier League clubs (also Stoke City). West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis: “Everyone’s seen what’s happened today. If you want to make an example of something, the first free-kick he [the referee] gives for Sánchez on the edge of the box (he) actually dives and he should be booked for diving in my opinion. Then you see the tackle in the box on Jay [Rodriguez at 0-0] and the referee’s got a great view, it’s a stonewall penalty. The disappointing thing tonight is Sánchez falls for the first free-kick. He should be booked, that’s cheating. Jay is very, very honest and doesn’t get any reward for being honest. We haven’t had a penalty at this football club for over a year and none of my players are told to roll around.”
