League position: 2nd This victory ended Arsenal's run of eight Premier League games without a win against Manchester United (lost five). They had won just one of their last 13 league games against United. They also equalled their biggest-ever Premier League win over United (3-0 at Highbury on 20 September 1998). It was the first time they had scored three goals in a Premier League game against the Red Devils since 25 November 2001 (won 3-1). The Gunners had only won two of their preceding seven home games in the Premier League.
