Comments:

League position: 14th In ending a run of eight games in the Premier League without a win, Arsenal began this game in their lowest league position at Christmas since the 1982-83 season (16th in League Division One). The Gunners remained unbeaten in home games played on a Boxing Day since 1987 (versus Nottingham Forest in League Division One at Highbury). They scored three or more goals in a game in the Premier League for the first time since their 3-0 win at Fulham on the opening weekend of the season (12 September 2020).

Comments:

League position: 7th Chelsea had now lost three consecutive away games in the Premier League for the first time since February 2019. Tammy Abraham's goal was initially disallowed for offside but the decision was subsequently overturned following a VAR review. He had now scored 21 goals in 50 appearances in the Premier League for the Blues; only Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (34) and Diego Costa (31) had scored more for them in the same period in the division. Jorginho's penalty after 90 minutes was saved. He became the first player to fail to convert two or more penalties for Chelsea in a season in the Premier League since Frank Lampard in 2013-14 (also two).
