This was Argentina’s biggest defeat in the group stages of a World Cup finals since a 6-1 loss to Czechoslovakia in Halsingborg in 1958. This was Argentina's first defeat at the World Cup finals by a margin of three goals or more since their 4-0 quarter-final defeat to Germany in Cape Town in 2010. Vedran Corluka became the seventh player to make 100 international appearances for Croatia.
