Comments:

This defeat ended Algeria's unbeaten run of 35 games since they lost to Benin in a Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on 16 October 2018. Italy therefore retained their world record of 37 'A' international games without defeat set in September 2021.

Comments:

Ranked 114th in the world and 28th in Africa, Equatorial Guinea were participating in the Africa Cup of Nations on foreign soil for the first time.
