Fernando scored the final goal in Spain's 4-0 win against Ukraine in their opening game at the 2006 World Cup finals.
He then scored twice in Spain's 3-1 against Tunisia that confirmed their progression in to the knockout stages.
Fernando joined Liverpool in July 2007 with a six-year contract.
He joined Chelsea in January 2011 with a contract to June 2016 and for a £50million fee - a new British club record.
