Matt Taylor

Matt Taylor continued to impress in a struggling Luton Town side in 2000-01 and was a near ever-present during the campaign.

A fast-raiding midfielder or wing back, he created panic in opposition defences with his surging runs and showed that he can shoot equally well with either foot.

He scored an amazing goal against Cambridge United when he fired home a shot from 40 yards over the retreating 'keeper and into the net to clinch a 1-0 victory for the Hatters.

His efforts during the campaign were rewarded when he received the supporters' club's Player of the Season and players' Player of the Season awards.

After rejecting the offer of a new contract, Matt was placed on the Luton transfer list in March 2002.

His contract at Portsmouth was extended to June 2010 in July 2006.

He joined Bolton Wanderers in January 2008 with a contract to June 2011 that was extended to June 2012 in July 2009.

Matt joined West Ham United in July 2011 with a three-year contract.

He joined Burnley in July 2014 with a two-year contract.

Matt joined Northampton Town in August 2016 with a one-year contract that was extended to June 2018 in May 2017.

He joined Swindon Town in August 2017 with a one-year contract.

In addition to the yellow cards totals shown below, as an unused sub, Matt was booked after 66 minutes of Portsmouth's Premier League game against Reading at Fratton Park on 29 September 2007 for dissent following an incident on the touchline after Reading were awarded a penalty.
