David Buchanan, who played for Bolton Wanderers during his youth career, signed his first pro contract with Bury in June 2005.
It ran to June 2007 and was extended to June 2010 in June 2008.
David joined Tranmere Rovers in July 2011 with a one-year contract.
He joined Preston North End in July 2012 with a two-year contract that was extended to June 2015 in December 2013.
His contract at Northampton Town was extended to June 2019 in January 2018.
