Comments:

Chelsea had now reached their seventh FA Cup Final since 2000; more than any other team in the 21st century. Including penalty shoot-outs, the Blues had now won ten games at the new Wembley Stadium; only Manchester United (11) had won more. They had now lost only one of their last six FA Cup semi-finals. Marcos Alonso was booked in the third minute of added time in the first-half. N'Golo Kante was booked in the third minute of added time in the second-half. Chelsea manager Antonio Conte said: "This is my first season in England and it is great to fight for the title and reach the Final of the FA Cup, a great competition. During the season there is a moment as a coach you must take a strong decision. You have to take a risk. If you win the plan worked, if you don't the responsibility is on you. I think today our plan worked very well."

Comments:

Tottenham Hotspur had now lost a record seven consecutive FA Cup semi-finals. Chelsea had set the previous record of six between 1920 and 1966. Since New Year's Day in 2015, Harry Kane had now scored 21 goals in 24 London derbies in all competitions. Dele Alli had now scored 20 goals in all competitions for Spurs in this season, including seven in his last nine appearances. Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino said: "We were fantastic in the way we played and in our philosophy. They had five shots and scored four goals and we score only two. The penalty for me was a soft penalty or was not a penalty. Only now we can look forward. We are four points behind them [in the Premier League] and we will try to win our next game. I am not worried."
