League position: 3rd Chelsea had now won 11 of their last 17 games in the Premier League (lost two) and would now need to win their final game of the season at Aston Villa to guarantee their place in next season's UEFA Champions League. The Blues avoided losing three consecutive games in all competitions (excluding the FA Community Shield) for the first time since October 2002.
