Full name is: Vítor Manuel Martins Baía.
He started his career at FC Porto in 1988 and was virtually a permanent fixture for eight seasons.
He made his international debut in December 1990 against the USA and ruled the roost for over ten years and is his countries most capped goalkeeper.
At club level, he left FC Porto to play in Spain for Barcelona in the summer of 1996 but could not settle and returned to FC Porto on loan midway through the 1998-99 season.
He made the move permanent at the start of the 2000-01 season but suffered a career threatening knee injury which sidelined him for over seventeen months.
