Shaun Derry

Derry began his career at Notts County and signed pro forms in March 1996.

His aggressive performances in midfield led his manager to call him 'the best player in the Division' and he began to attract the interest of several clubs.

He signed for Sheffield United for £700,000 in January 1998.

Derry appeared in several positions for them, including as a replacement goalkeeper against Portsmouth in 1998.

He represented the Nationwide Under-21 team that played against Italy in March 1998.

An operation on a troublesome knee kept him out of most of the 1998-99 season.

He signed for Portsmouth in March 2000 for £300,000.

Derry scored on his Pompey home debut against West Bromwich Albion.

He switched from a central midfield role to right back for the team at the beginning of the 2000-01 season and alternated roles during the campaign depending on the formation employed by the manager.

Derry was a regular in the team until sidelined by a back injury that kept him out of action from the end of February for the rest of the 2000-01 season.

The 2001-02 season proved just as frustrating as a persistent hamstring problem sidelined him for most of the campaign.

A powerful composed defender, he has a great first touch, a good turn of pace and is very strong pushing forward.

Derry joined Leeds United in February 2005 with a contract to June 2007 that was extended to June 2009 in August 2006.

After a loan spell, he returned to Crystal Palace in January 2008 with a contract to June 2010.

Derry joined Queens Park Rangers in July 2010 with a two-year contract that was extended to June 2013 in August 2011 and to June 2014 in January 2013.
