At club level he began his senior career with Maribor making his debut in the 1991-1992 season and later played for Rudar Velenje for three and a half seasons before moving to Belgium in the summer of 1999 to play for Lokeren. He won his first cap against Iceland in February 1998, and played all three of his country's game in the Euro 2000 finals However he has struggled to make much of an impact with Lokeren and has seen little first-team action in the last couple of seasons. He is a tall goalkeeper but does not control his area well, although he is good at one on one situation. He is second choice behind Marko Simunovic.
