Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier signed Igor in December 2000 from Dinamo Zagreb, following injuries to both Patrik Berger and Dieter Hamann that left the Reds short of resources in midfield.
A versatile player, he was used in defence to cover for Henchoz but failed to maintain a regular first team place.
