Freeman joined Port Vale on loan last September and impressed on his debut at Bournemouth, but only featured twice more for the Second Division club before returning to the City Ground. He subsequently enjoyed a brief run in the Nottingham Forest first-team squad after Christmas. He is a busy little striker with a good touch, plenty of pace and a useful shot.
Freeman spent a month with Carlisle United before being released in October 2002.
