Man City fancied to march on at Liverpool

Manchester City visit Liverpool on Sunday aiming to take another big step towards winning this season’s Premier League title.

City currently lead neighbours Manchester United by 15 points, with Chelsea and Liverpool lagging further behind in third and fourth places.

The visitors are priced at 5/4 to win the game, with Liverpool on offer at 21/10. The draw can be backed with Fun88 at 53/20.

City’s Gabriel Jesus is still out with a knee ligament injury, although he could return to action in two weeks after a successful visit to a top doctor in Barcelona.

Vincent Kompany is close to a return, but Benjamin Mendy and Phil Foden are still on the sidelines.

Defender Virgil van Dijk is set to make his league debut for Liverpool, while Mohamed Salah will return to their attack after missing the FA Cup third round win over Everton.

Jordan Henderson, Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno could also be involved.

City trounced Liverpool 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium earlier in the season and they are strongly fancied to complete the double this weekend.

They haven’t won at Anfield since a 2-1 success back in 2003, but they are a completely different proposition under Pep Guardiola.

City are priced at 9/1 to repeat that scoreline and that looks a solid wager.

Former Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling has been in excellent form this term, scoring 18 goals in 29 games in all competitions. He is available at 5/4 to score at any time during Sunday’s game.

The Reds have won four and drawn two of their last seven meetings with City and they are unbeaten at home this season.

Their last victory was a 1-0 success at the end of 2016 and they are priced at 11/1 to match that feat on Sunday.

Van Dijk scored on his debut against Everton and could be worth a bet at 6/1 to bag another against City.

Liverpool desperately need something from this game to prove they can mix it with the top sides, but City have looked a class apart this season and another three points looks likely.

Guardiola’s side are currently 20/1 to win the quadruple and those odds will fall if they win at Anfield.

City look a good bet at 5/4 to record another victory on Sunday and putting them in a treble with Chelsea (2/7) and Arsenal (20/27) to beat Leicester City and Bournemouth respectively is a tempting weekend wager.
