Coutinho transfer won’t be the last of the January mega-deals

The January transfer window has already seen some bumper deals completed and the rest of the month promises to provide plenty of talking points for football fans everywhere.

Philippe Coutinho’s £142 million transfer from Liverpool to Barcelona is the highlight of the window so far, although manager Jurgen Klopp did manage to seal a major incoming transfer of his own.

Virgil van Dijk’s arrival for £75 million from Southampton should help shore up Liverpool’s defence, but Coutinho’s departure leaves a hole in their attacking resources.

Monaco’s Thomas Lemar has been linked with a move to Anfield, but rumours that the Reds were targeting Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid have been dismissed by Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

Christian Pulisic and Alejandro Gomez are two other names touted for a move to Liverpool, while Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez is another player tipped to join the club.

Liverpool have also explored the possibility of bringing forward Naby Keita’s transfer from RB Leipzig and you can use this Betfair Promo Code offer if you fancy the midfielder to move before the transfer window closes.

Elsewhere, Chelsea duo Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois continue to be linked with a move to Real Madrid.

With Barcelona expected to bring Griezmann to the Nou Camp next summer, Madrid desperately need some big-name signings to appease their fans.

Madrid are currently 16 points adrift of Barca in La Liga and it remains to be seen whether manager Zinedine Zidane will be given time to turn things around.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been linked with numerous players as he bids to close the gap on local rivals Manchester City.

Lucas Moura, Marco Asensio and Alexis Sanchez are amongst the names linked with a move to Old Trafford, while speculation about Harry Kane’s future at Tottenham refuses to go away.

The Spurs striker has been valued at £300 million, but that might not scare off potential suitors if the club fails to qualify for the Champions League.

United would undoubtedly face competition from Madrid for Kane’s signature, but the lure of following in the footsteps of the likes of Eric Cantona and Zlatan Ibrahimovic could prove too strong.

Pep Guardiola’s City are also eager to add to their squad, with Arsenal’s Sanchez heavily tipped to head to the Etihad Stadium.

Defenders Samuel Umtiti, Jonny Evans and Harry Maguire have also been linked to the club, while Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha and Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred are believed to be other targets.

Out of all the Premier Leaqgue transfer rumours doing the rounds Sanchez to City appears the most likely to be completed during January, but watch out for a bidding war for Kane at the end of the season if Spurs miss out on the top four.
