Although they have never won a major trophy, Fulham reached the FA Cup final in 1975, as well as the Europa League final in 2010. After being taken over by owner of Harrods, Mohamed Al-Fayed in 1997, Fulham experienced a meteoric rise from the fourth to the top tier of English football.

Between 2002 and 2004 Fulham were forced to ground share with QPR due to the reconstruction work taking place at Craven Cottage.

Following Premier League promotion in 2001, Fulham enjoyed a long spell in the division. Previously they had not competed in the top flight since 1968.
