In 1938, Cuba made their one and only World Cup finals appearance in France. There, they were eliminated at the quarter final stage after losing 8 - 0 to Sweden.

Cuba achieved their best CONACAF Gold Cup in 2003 when they reached the quarter finals. In 2012, Cuba won the Caribbean Cup after defeating Trinidad and Tobago in the final.

Odel?n Molina holds the record for all-time appearances. The goalkeeper made his debut in 1996.

Football has suffered from a lack of popularity in Cuba. The sport is far behind the likes of baseball, boxing and athletics.
