Premier League Week 18 stats in review

Here’s a selection of some of the leading stats and facts from the festive round of Premier League games.

Troy Deeney became the fifth player to score 100 goals for Watford in all competitions after Luther Blissett, Tommy Barnett, Ross Jenkins and Cliff Holton.

Arsenal became the second club to win 300 home games in the Premier League. Manchester United had now won 344.

Burnley have now gained 19 of their 20 points so far in this Premier League season in games played at Turf Moor.

Chelsea created a new club record of 12 consecutive league wins. The previous record of 11 wins in a row had stood since September 2009.

Everton won for the first time at Leicester City since 20 December 1997 when Gary Speed scored the only goal in a Premier League victory at Filbert Street.

Manchester United have now won 19 Premier League games on Boxing Day; more than any other club.

West Ham United won their first league game at Swansea City since 5 April 1983 in League Division One at The Vetch Field. That 5-1 success remains as the Swans’ heaviest-ever home defeat in the top division.

Manchester City’s Yaya Touré became the first player since Papiss Cissé of Newcastle United in 2014 to score a goal in the Premier League on Boxing Day for a third consecutive season.

Jon Walters’ opener against Liverpool was only the third goal that Stoke City had scored in a league game at Anfield since 1976 (also Paul Bracewell in March 1983 and Bojan Krkic in April 2016).

Tottenham Hotspur created a new club by winning 71 Premier League points in 2016; their most in a calendar year.
