Wayne was the player who made way for Hermann Hreidarsson at Ipswich Town in 2000-01 and he found himself on the substitutes bench for the opening game at Tottenham Hotspur.
A promising central defender, he was then troubled by injury for much of the season and was only able to make a total of four first-team appearances, all from the subs' bench.
There was talk of a transfer to Wimbledon during the early stages of the campaign but nothing materialised and he eventually joined First Division Queens Park Rangers in a loan deal on the Transfer Deadline Day.
Unfortunately, he then suffered further injury problems in only his second game for the West London club and he returned to Portman Road early.
Wayne's contract at Colchester United was extended to June 2008 in May 2006.
He joined Hull City in July 2007 with a three-year contract.
After a loan spell, Wayne joined Leicester City in June 2009 with a contract to June 2011.
