His early career was spent with Toulouse whom he joined in 1992 before moving to Guingamp for the 1995-96 season. He left to join Italian giants AS Roma early in 1997.
Vincent made his international debut in October 1996 against Turkey, and some fine performances in Serie A have helped him win a regular place in the national line-up.
He is a talented left back and would have won many more caps but for the form of Bixente Lizarazu, and may find himself pushed into left midfield where his pace will cause problems for the opposition teams.
Vincent joined Bolton Wanderers in January 2005 with a contract to the end of the season.
