Fleming joined Plymouth Argyle on a three-year contract in the 2000 close season and made the starting line-up for the first few weeks of the campaign.
However, he struggled to win a regular place following a change in management at Home Park and in March he rejoined his old boss John Beck at Cambridge United.
He scored a goal for the Us on his debut against Wrexham and provided a welcome boost for the team in the centre of the park.
Fleming is a combative midfield ball winner who possesses an effective long throw.
He joined Grimsby Town in July 2004 with a one-year contract.
