A talented keeper and former England Under-21 international, Stuart Taylor moved on to Aston Villa after failing to strengthen his position of third-choice at Arsenal.
Finding himself third in line at Highbury behind full internationals David Seaman and Alex Manninger, Stuart began the 2000-01 season on loan at Crystal Palace.
He played in the opening ten matches for the Eagles performing competently but only keeping two clean sheets before returning to the Gunners.
On his return, he made his debut for Arsenal in the Worthington Cup Third Round defeat by Ipswich Town before gaining some valuable European experience in the Champions' League game against Shakhtar Donetsk.
Later in the season, he had a spell on loan at Peterborough United as cover for the injured Mark Tyler and again acquitted himself well.
A big, solid 'keeper with a fine all-round game, Stuart joined Aston Villa in June 2005 with a four-year contract.
His contract at Manchester City was extended to June 2012 in July 2010.
He joined Reading in August 2012 with a one-year contract that was extended to June 2014 in August 2013.
Stuart joined Leeds United in July 2014 with a one-year contract.
He joined Southampton in August 2016 with a one-year contract that was extended to June 2018 in July 2017.
