Sean McClare found himself on the edges of the Barnsley first team in 2000-01 and enjoyed a short run in the line-up as cover for injuries in the autumn.

However, soon afterwards, he fell out of favour with boss Dave Bassett and went on the transfer list.

At his best, he is a hard working box-to-box midfield player with an eye for goal.

Sean moved on to Port Vale in October 2001, but went on the Valiants transfer list at the end of the season.

He subsequently joined Rochdale in July 2003 with a one-year contract.
