McGleish started the 2000-01 season in great form for Barnet, netting four times in the first four games, but sadly the goals then dried up and when Tony Cottee took over as manager he found himself playing reserve team football.
He played and scored in the LDV Vans Trophy win over Peterborough United but soon afterwards he was transferred to Colchester United, much to the displeasure of the Barnet faithful.
He featured regularly in the Us' line-up and netted five goals, four of which came in the final month of the season.
A tireless forager up front, he is also good in the air despite his rather modest height.
McGleish signed a new one-year contract with Colchester United in June 2003.
He joined Northampton Town in July 2004 on a two-year contract that was extended to June 2008 in May 2006.
After a loan spell, McGleish joined Leyton Orient in July 2009 with a one-year contract that was extended to June 2011 in June 2010.
