A promising young central defender, Ryan joined Stoke City on loan in 2007, helping them to promotion into the Premier League, playing 41 times (7 goals). The move was made permanent in January 2008 with a contract to June 2011 that was extended to June 2014 in November 2009. United might yet regret allowing Ryan to move.
