Known as 'The Little Magician' in the Caribbean, Russell is a talented and very skilful midfield player capable of scoring spectacular goals.
After playing for local club Trintoc, he later had a spell in Jamaica with Port Morant United before joining Portuguese Second Division outfit Academica Coimbra in 1990 before moving on to Porto where his career peaked with successive league titles in 1994-95 and 1995-96. Russell then spent a further two seasons with Boavista.
In October 1998, Russell moved to Scotland when he signed for Hibernian. He signed for Rangers in the summer of 2001and has since played for Dundee United and Falkirk.
The first Trinidadian to play in the UEFA Champions League, Russell made his international debut for Trinidad & Tobago against the United States in 1987.
