Once again a truly inspirational figure for Leicester City in 2000-01, Robbie appeared to revel in the extra responsibility handed to him when Neil Lennon departed.

Very much a cult figure at Filbert Street, he seemed to have a never-ending supply of energy.

He also found himself in the opposition box more often than in the past and duly took advantage with some cool finishes, notably a memorable strike at home to West Ham United.

Unfortunately, he was injured in the Wycombe Wanderers FA Cup tie and subsequently had to undergo a cartilage operation.

His influence was clearly missed in the next few games although, remarkably, he was back playing just 17 days after submitting himself to the surgeon's knife.

A right-footed midfielder or wing back, he has a level of skill that is easily overlooked.

Robbie also represented Wales during the campaign winning four more caps.

His contract at Birmingham City was extended to June 2008 in July 2004 before joining Blackburn Rovers in January 2005 with a contract to June 2008 that was extended to June 2009 in December 2006.

He joined Derby County in January 2008 with a contract to June 2010 that was extended to June 2011 in August 2009.
