Hanlon continued to make steady progress at Peterborough United in 2000-01 but never seemed to be able to establish himself in the first team and only played in fits and starts.
He is a forceful midfield player with a fine left-foot shot and a ferocious striker of a dead ball.
However, despite making over 20 appearances for Posh, he failed to register a goal.
Hanlon joined Lincoln City in December 2004 with a contract to the end of the season.
