Richie Appleby played alongside his brother Matty in Newcastle's Anglo-Italian Cup campaign in 1992-93.
Appleby had a frustrating time with injuries at Swansea City in 2000-01 and a heel problem restricted him to just two outings from the subs' bench in the first half of the season. He spent a further period when he was sidelined with his foot in plaster but returned to make a handful more appearances as a substitute in the closing matches. A very skilful wide midfield player he has the ability to open up opposition defences and provides many chances for his colleagues.
Appleby's contract at Hull City was cancelled in December 2003. He reurned to Kidderminster Harriers in July 2004 on non-contract terms.
