Phil made his Sheffield United debut against Swindon Town in the final League match of the 1999-2000 season whilst still a trainee.
He was far from overawed and was rewarded with a professional contract the following day.
Phil's Blades contract was extended to June 2005 in May 2003, then to June 2007 in January 2004, then to June 2009 in August 2006.
He joined Everton in July 2007 with a five-year contract that was extended to June 2014 in May 2009 and to June 2015 in March 2011.
