Hawkins received his big break at Wimbledon in 2000-01 and fitted admirably into the left-back role.
Despite suffering an ankle injury towards the end of the year, he came back to regain his place and can be satisfied with the progress he made over the twelve months.
Quick in the tackle and always willing to push forward down the wing he showed his versatility by occasionally standing in at right back.
Hawkins joined Rushden & Diamonds in July 2004 on a two-year contract.
