This elegant, hard-working midfield player spent his early career with St Mirren and Motherwell before signing for Borussia Dortmund on a 'Bosman' free transfer in the summer of 1996. He subsequently appeared for the Bundesliga club in the 1997 European Cup final when they defeated Juventus 3-1 before signing for Celtic in November 1997. He helped the Bhoys to the Scottish League title that season and went on to feature regularly for Scotland. Paul was also a key figure in the treble-winning squad of 2000-01.
