PARK Ji-Sung
| Born | 25 February 1981, Seoul |
| Nationality | |
| Weight | 75 kg |
| Height | 1.75 m |
| Position | Midfielder |
Park is seen as a rebel figure, he is the only player to not start his career in the domestic league as he left to play in the Japanese Second Division for Kyoto Purple Sanga after he graduated from school.
He had played in the 2000 Olympics prior to leaving Korea and this did not stop him earning full international recognition.
His consistent performances in central midfield led to promotion for his club side and his inclusion in the 2002 World Cup Finals squad.
He is a highly skilful player, with good ability to take free kicks in dangerous areas and corners.
Park famously scored the only goal in the win against Portugal in their final Group D game in Incheon to confirm the Korea Republic's qualification to the second phase for the first time in their sixth World Cup finals.
He played in all seven of Korea's games in the 2002 World Cup finals.
At the 2006 World Cup finals, he scored Korea's goal in the 1-1 draw against France in Group G.
Park's contract at Manchester United was extended to June 2012 in September 2009 and to June 2013 in August 2011.
