After beginning the 2000-01 campaign with non-league Scarborough Marcus joined Cheltenham Town in November as cover for an injury crisis. He mostly featured in the reserves at centre half but also played in a central midfield role on occasions. He found first team opportunities limited at Whaddon Road and in February he moved on to join Yeovil to assist in their fight for the Conference title. Still living in North Yorkshire, after a brief spell at Northwich, Marcus returned to Scarborough in October 2001.
